LSR7 Board of Education hosts three Dinner with the Board events for community insight on cell phones in schools
The Lee’s Summit R-7 School District Board of Education will host three Dinner with the Board events to gain insight from the community about a topic that influences students’ daily lives: the impact of cell phones in the school environment. The Board’s interest in receiving input about cell phones in schools was in part prompted by insights from Jonathan Haidt's book, The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness.
The "Dinner with the Board" series invites community conversations about cell phone access at school. Participants can enjoy free pizza while participating in the World-Cafe style event, which encourages dynamic and meaningful conversations among small groups. Those in attendance will rotate between tables, interact with different Board members, and connect with fellow attendees.
Each evening will conclude with a "harvest" session where groups share their key insights. Additionally, a professional graphic artist will capture the community’s collective insights, creating a visual record of the discussions.
