Dr. Mitchell joined the Summit Lakes school community as principal in 2017. During his 28 year career in education, Dr. Mitchell has served as an elementary and middle school teacher, middle school assistant principal, and 20 years as a middle school building principal.
Dr. Mitchell received his BSED from the University of Missouri-Columbia, Masters and Specialist degrees in School Administration from the University of Central Missouri, and completed his Doctorate in Education Leadership from William Woods University.
Building and sustaining relationships with students, parents, and staff has become a cornerstone of Dr. Mitchell’s administrative beliefs. Throughout his career, he has led with the focus on fostering a school culture that meets the academic and social, and emotional needs that are so important to the success of middle school students, not only in the classroom but also in life.

Mrs. Hasty will be serving as the 6th-Grade Assistant Principal at both Summit Lakes Middle School and Pleasant Lea Middle School. She joined Pleasant Lea Middle School in August of 2021 where she worked as a teacher and also an administrator. Prior to that, she was in the Raymore-Peculiar School District. Mrs. Hasty was also heavily involved in the education of her three children as they attended school in Lee’s Summit. She was a parent volunteer, participated in PTA, and was a substitute teacher. She is fortunate enough to have had a variety of opportunities that prepared her for this platform in her professional career.
Mrs. Hasty graduated from Graceland University with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with a reading endorsement. She received a Master’s in Educational Leadership in grades K-12 from the University of Central Missouri. She has mentored teachers, served on the Superintendent’s Teachers Advisory Committee, and participated in the LSR7 Leadership Academy.
Mrs. Hasty is committed to helping students, staff, and parents feel seen, appreciated, and respected. She loves to see students reach goals, find the fun in learning something new, and gain confidence as they master new skills.

Mr. Barger joined the Summit Lakes family in 2019. For the 2022-23 school year, he will be the 7th-grade assistant principal. He is also the Falcon activities/athletic director. He strives to ensure each student gains the skills to succeed at Summit Lakes and later in life. Supporting students, families, and staff by fostering positive
Mr. Barger has over 25 years in education and has worked in five Kansas City area school districts, beginning his career as a high school business/technology classroom teacher and coach. In addition, has provided teacher/administrator professional development focused on instructional technology as an instructional technology facilitator, technology coordinator, and instructional technology specialist. Finally, as an adjunct professor, he has taught graduate courses for several local universities that focus on teaching educators about integrating technology into the classroom.
