Virtual Learning Starting Nov 23
With the decision by our Board of Education to move back into a VIRTUAL Learning environment for all LSR7 students, I want to share with you details of the plan that will impact your SLMS student. Students will begin VL on Monday, November 23 and continue through the end of the first semester, January 21. A decision regarding what learning model will be used for semester two, beginning January 25, will be made around January 14.
Next Monday, November 23 and Tuesday, November 24, will resemble “at-home” learning days similar to your child’s off-days during hybrid learning. Teachers will post assignments by 9am and be available via email throughout the day to respond to questions students may have. All students will have an 8:00am meeting with their Homeroom teacher on Monday and Tuesday. We will resume our normal VL schedule with student’s checking in with each class throughout their day on Monday, November 30.
For consistency, SLMS will utilize the same VL schedule that students and families became familiar with prior to shifting to Hybrid back in October. The only change being made will be to the Wednesday format. We will be keeping our Hybrid “WEDNESDAY” format during VL as students have become comfortable with the live help sessions offered from 9:30-11:00am and again from 1:00-2:30pm.
Also, we will be offering Hybrid Group “A” students (Monday/Tuesday) the opportunity to access the building next Monday or Tuesday should they need to retrieve belongings from their lockers, band instruments, etc. that they were not able to grab prior to this announcement being made. Students needing to pick up items may do so during the hours of 9:00am-Noon and again from 1:00pm-3:00pm.
Lastly, we will be sending additional communication to families next Tuesday that will outline the meeting codes for all teachers’ homeroom, class, and help session codes. The communication will also include the VL schedule and student expectations during virtual learning for reference.
Thank you in advance for your continued flexibility and patience as we respond to the growing percentage of community spread and the need to maintain the safety of our students and staff.
